FIRE Upgrades Empty FIRE Upgrades

Because WIND set the standard to make these effects okay.

|Ashen Skewer|XXX|XXX|Trap Card|Trap||Normal|||Tribute 1 FIRE Monster on your side of the field. Inflict damage to the opponent's Life Points equal to the original ATK of the tributed monster.|

|Hellfire Ophidian|XXX|XXX|Reptile/Tuner|FIRE|3||1500|1200|When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, reduce the ATK of 1 of your opponent's monsters by 800. When this card is sent to the Graveyard by the opponent, select 1 FIRE Monster in your Graveyard and shuffle it into your deck.|

|Firestorm Crisis Reaver|XXX|XXX|Pyro/Effect|FIRE|4||2400|0|When your opponent attacks, battle damage inflicted to you is doubled. You do not conduct your Main Phase 2 while this card is face-up on the field.|

|Wraithchar Maw|XXX|XXX|Pyro/Effect|FIRE|6||2400|1200|This card cannot be destroyed or removed from play until your opponent's 3rd End Phase since this card has been Summoned. Once per turn, you can discard any number of FIRE monsters from your hand to randomly discard the same number of cards from your opponent's hand.|

Ashen Skewer and Hellfire Ophidian are fine and cool. For Hellfire Ophidian, why not just make it summon? Give Flip Summoning some love =)

Firestorm Crisis Reaver - What kind of a drawback is that? No one's gonna Attack you with a 2400 ATK thing like that and Main Phase 2's aren't used much anyways. Might as well just make it a Normal Monster, and it's well above the standard.

Wraithchar Maw - Has ridiculous Staying power. I don't think any card that powerful and easy to get out needs an effect like that. Until your opponent's End Phase, or lowering the ATK a bunch would be more reasonable IMO.

And then suddenly ATK reducing cards aren't so questionable anymore, right? And yes, some people are going to attack, if the award is a possible 2500+ damage with direct attackers (a simple 1000 direct damage suddenly becomes 2000), double attackers, or just a nice big synchro (thanks to how quickly WIND can pump them out) and when you do hit a bump in the road (Nox, Savior Soldier, Jayjujayme, attack negation or flipping to defense position) then all you have left to do is end your turn, and wait next turn to address the field AFTER the battle phase, because some monsters add new cards to the field, or you get shafted with a defensive card and are unable to reel back because there's no Main Phase 2.

Sure, it has the same ATK as Chainsaw Insect, but has that card been being put in every deck and ripping apart metagames? Not really. It gives Beatdown some more edge but that's about it.
