Dead Broken - The Harmony Mechs Empty Dead Broken - The Harmony Mechs

Post by Alfred Wed Nov 10, 2010 8:17 pm

For a while, I have heard many people mention this archetype in passing conversation. An archetype that truly thrives off milling, an archetype with various OTKs. I finally decided to get off my lazy arse and see what all the fuss was about. I looked at all of the Harmony Mechs and I said aloud "shit."

0T-K is a walking Crystal Abundance, a 1-card OTK in itself. Late game, Harmony Mechs would have already done a lot of milling. 0T-K mills 10, then nukes the field, then lets you summon as many Harmony Mechs as you can from the Graveyard. That is possibly the most ridiculously powerful 1-card OTK I've ever seen, one that is borderline-unstoppable. Even with 0T-K put @1 they would still be one of the most powerful decks in the CCG.

Discuss.

Tbh I didn't go against this card personally so i've never really seen it in action Embarassed
But if you say it's broken then something must be done.

Some fix ideas (any combination) :

* Only able to SS level 4 or lower Harmony Mechs
* "All Battle damage you inflict is halved this turn"
* Half the ATK of all monsters summoned by this effect
* Discard Your hand to destroy an equal number of cards on the field (Mind-storm effect)
* SS the monsters from your Deck
* Destroy this card during your end phase

Some fix ideas (any combination) :

* Only able to SS level 4 or lower Harmony Mechs Better but still ok
* "All Battle damage you inflict is halved this turn" your still dead next turn
* Half the ATK of all monsters summoned by this effect same as above
* Discard Your hand to destroy an equal number of cards on the field (Mind-storm effect) NO NO GOOD HEAVENS NOOOO. That would make him better (don't lose you cards then)
* SS the monsters from your Deck same as above
* Destroy this card during your end phase right (opposing player) I'll die this turn but at the end of the turn O-TK dies as well!

If you say fix #2 will keep the player vulnerable to die next turn, and the last one won't stop the OTK, what about both?

"All battle damage you inflict is halved this turn. Destroy this card [and all harmony mechs?] during your end phase."

Or we could change the first sentence to halving the ATK instead.

SS the monsters from your deck will either make or break the OTK depending on your situation, but I think it will most likely weaken it. It's kinda hard to SS from your deck late in the game, including that you just milled 10 cards from your deck. Early in the game it would be easier, but then again your opponent would have more of a chance to counter it with a full hand.

Alright, Mind storm effect thrown out.

"Sea are you not thinking at all today"?

Decadence that was extremely rude. What's your problem.

Best fix:

"...to Special Summon as many Level 3 or lower "Harmony" monsters from your Graveyard. During the End Phase, destroy all "Harmony" monsters summoned by this card's effect. Take damage equal to this card's Level x200."

This gives it a drawback and prevents OTKs. Still a summonable beatstick that can pop for big damage too. Good for Synchros, giving it more varied usability and encouraging more creative plays besides "summon 0T-K and win".

Well, it isn't called 0-TK for nothing now isn't it? I designed it to be an OTK or bust card. Basically, you need to keep 0-TK on the field after summoning to use Special Summon effect. If your opponent chains a trap to destroy or gain control of card, it is a bust. However, I agree it should only be Level 4 or lower.

ZeroChill, Harmony Mechs thrive off milling anyway, so even if a Trap is chained (which it won't be much of the time) it's a guaranteed OTK. And if a Trap is chained they get a free +10 mill anyway - it's win-win. 0T-K is @3 at the moment anyway, so it's not like a last-ditch attempt or anything.
