TCG/OCG metagame discussion
Discussion about the TCG and the OCG meta.
Last time on OCGland:
-Incarnates and prophecy domination(pre burner and lightning, only 3 tourneys have been posted after they're released, and all 3 won by incarnates.)
-Verz is still popular, but losing to Firefist and mermail in tops
-Laval, Hieratic and dragunitys gets more tops.
-Incarnates is used in dragunitys, lavals, mermails, and fire fists.
-Incarnates mains exploder, fusilier, and EEV to beat other t1 decks.
-A blue eyes deck topped
-OCG still hates backrow and Dark Hole.
So, in short their metagame goes something like this for now:
T1:
-Incarnates
-Mermail
-Prophecy
-Brofist rank 3
T1.5:
-Verz
-Dragunity
T2:
-Laval
-Brofist rank 4
-Hieratic Pure
-Hieratic Ritua
T2.5:
-HEROs
-Karakuri
-Gadget/Machina/Geargia
-Fire King
-Six Spam
-Infernity
T3
-Rogue decks that topped
T4:
Everything Else
Last time on TCG:
(To be Added later)
Now let's the discussion start. We can also discuss about anything TCG/OCG related stuffs here(Tourney, trade result, stuffs).
OP will be updated every weekend/after a YCS.

Re: TCG/OCG metagame discussion
i think people will start dropping dragunity for a full incarnate dragon.dek in the near future when they realise that deck is still very fragile and susceptible to hand traps.
the only deck that plays real yugioh in ocgland is verz anyway, rest reminds me of march'12 when we had to put up with inzektor field rape and yugioh just sucks butt.
on the other side of the spectrum, tcg meta is:
-rabbit fist
-dino rabbit
-mermail
with prophecy, inzektor, hero, dark world and chaos dragons just holding on. maybe geargia but its mermail/ff match-up is fucking terrible

oh and fire kings are still something of an unknown quantity but a couple of people are getting some positive results from smaller scale tournaments

Fire Kings is somewhat viable in the TCG. but without yaksha, wolfberk, and kamaitachi, they aren't quite as good. And they have the DW game 2 problem.
You should be aware of them, but with the right side, they can easily be defeated.
Anyway, what's the opinion for HEROs, DWs, Sams, Agents, Constellar, Monarch, and GBs for march?
Addendum: imo Verz has the best archetype design in the game. they are not broke, but consistently powerful. They don't derp since they're too cool to for that.

Re: TCG/OCG metagame discussion
hero by all accounts has a pretty good match-up in tcg against fire fist and dino rabbit but is too slow to keep up with mermail but deals well with rogue, it's one of the best outsiders,
dw's are too easy to side against. they'll beat most rogue consistently that doesn't spam barkion, but the top decks can side better against it and will usually win unless the dw player opens broke g2/3
sams are a decently consistent dick deck. they'll get their soft locks out quicker but for the most part, top decks are more capable of dismantling them then sams are at making them. i'd expect occasional tops but shi en isn't the end all anymore. watch out for versions running macro and keep st destruction mained/sided accordingly.
agents are still annoying but every other deck can do it better. as far as boss monster decks go, mermails will drop and maintain them better. their only ace up the sleeve kristya is swatted by fire fist. don't expect to see many.
constellar idk much about but i expect their ability to make waves will rely on sombres. if they don't get him early, they'll be a fairly consistent deck, but the limited ability for pleidas drops will be matched and overwhelmed for sure.
monarchs genuinely struggle almost any format with big backrows and this makes fire fist a big concern for them. fader will be so important too with mermails easily pushing for game-ending damage. vanity's fiend has dropped off the marker with the fire fist on the rise so one of their best tricks are off the radar. being the only deck really capable of consistent ladd or obelisk drops, they have merit but every deck being more consistent looks bad for monarchs.
gbs have potential in the new format being more consistent than ever, and war chariot outright smashes the meta. regular glads will get beat by everything they did before and more, while newglads can only occasionally match the tempo of the meta. i expect the only version that will see real competitive success is the ahl version as it is the only version that can put a strong field out at a fast pace which is almost a necessity.
important note: banisher of the radiance seems back on the rise. walking macro may be huge for agents or fists but gives dino-rabbit more lee-way in those matchups. if you try it beware of randy guaibas ruining your day

Re: TCG/OCG metagame discussion
kristya is still a stop to incarnates though, much like ophion. so i expect some form of fairy.dek in the meta.
Incarnates can consistently summon a turn 1 LaDD, that's one of the reason why they're powerful.
seems like monarch is pretty much out of the competition for now.
banisher of radiance? seems interesting, but i'll just see more result to decide if its a worthy main/side card.
Imperial Iron wall is officially the most underrated side/counter side card in the game.
And forgot some decks. how about laval quasar, chaos dragon, hieratic, LS, and ritual.dek?

Re: TCG/OCG metagame discussion
As of 9th March, lavals seems to gain popularity and getting more tops in OCGland, while hieratic seems sitting firmly in T2. Prophecy is still stupid, and Incarnate Dragons now main fusiliers and Eradicators to handle prophecy.
....okay

That's just depressing... prophecies are so cheap you have to Main deck your side deck cards.
Iron Imperial Wall ftw
Re: TCG/OCG metagame discussion
Updated OP. God, incarnate is just bullshit.

Re: TCG/OCG metagame discussion
They could have been just cool tech cards, but noooooo, konami said "Let's make them spam rank 7s and give them a ridiculous draw engine lololol"
Re: TCG/OCG metagame discussion
yes i do visual them being tech cards as well with the given effects but then Konami had to go and ruin it once again

Fun uses for Incarnates in non-Meta decks:
* Redox in Banipsychics
* Tidal in Slushy-Levia
* Tempest with Divine Wind of Mist Valley and Harpie Dancer
