Possible Concept for Next Set
When Worlds Collide:
I say, since we haven't started a story with our cards yet, we give them all a story.
Lets make this the Chronological 1st set of the story!
This can be about a war between prehistoric land and water creatures.
Ideas for the limited types/attributes (since they are currently the lowest and most under used):
Team Water:
Fish
Sea Serpent
Reptile
Team Land:
Pyro
Dinosaur
Beast
Land:
Earth
FIRE
Water: (Wind can include flying fish, and Sea Gulls, or Elementals)
WATER
WIND
We can decide the actual story easily, but this was just an idea to open up more play-ability for the underused card types.
Clolonial Inbalance (since Insects live in colonies)
This can be a set of just insects! It would have to be a smaller set but, it could help balance the card pool! Obviously we would make insects of all attributes

If we are going to do this I suggest we make a card pool that works with one another instead of just everyone making random dinosaur cards.
Re: Possible Concept for Next Set
I agree, i was saying we would have to communicate a little bit more on a set like this one, than a normal set

Ok, I'm all for themes, up until the point when it would start restricting creativity. People can contribute to the theme, yes, but it should not be the underlining factor that would determine if it would be accepted, or if it should be made outside the theme at all.

Honestly, i just want it to be an "who ever wants to can contribute to the theme" type thing

but he makes a point, a bunch of random dino cards would be less productive

Well Dinosaurs already have a Tribute Summon/Monarch theme going on, I guess. Other stuff is just a clusterfuck of randomness tbqh. Except maybe Fiends being control.

Might also be a good idea to regulate card ideas...

I disagree. Restricting ideas aren't what CCG's are about, they exist for the opposite - for people to express their cardmaking ideas. To tell them they aren't allowed to do so isn't what we do.

Re: Possible Concept for Next Set
Everything here so far points towards making theme a priority. So far I've seen "we make a card pool that works with one another" - this quickly dashes individual creativity, and "Might also be a good idea to regulate card ideas...", which is something that I can't personally endorse.
Don't get me wrong, I would like a themed set, just not one that will take the entire focus of the set.

Well, the two ideas presented here don't have to be mutually exclusive. Can't we have one part of the set contribute to the theme and have another part be a free-for-all?
Also, how useful is tributing around here? Do people actually build decks with monsters they tribute summon or even decks that revolve around the mechanic? I know it almost never happens in the OCG apart from the standard Monarchs and a few other obscure, mostly uncompetitive decks.

I hate my connection so much. Write a mini-essay, attempt to post and be sent to "MyStart".
The short version of it was that balance is key - an emphasis on either side would either see undersupported themes/types remain undersupported, while prioritising themes would see lack of development in other areas of the game.
Tribute Summoning is in general left to Dinosaurs - they're one of the only decks to provide the fodder necessary while having bosses that will quickly and efficiently cover the costs of their summon. Even so, they're Tier 2 here at best. Though I do admit that Splitting Shadows from DODM looks like it may be able to produce an interesting Tribute Summon deck, though I haven't found anything that would make it superior to Dinosaurs.

Re: Possible Concept for Next Set
I was mostly basing my own dinosaur cards off of Ash's and Tungsten's.
I'm probably not going to follow this theme because that isn't what I do, but I do understand that I should try harder in making cards that actually work together with others instead of expanding on something completely random that doesn't have a previous niche before (like Mill dinosaurs or Fiend/Dino hybrid decks), so making what we have better seems more suitable for now until I see some lee-way for "Well a mill-dino wouldn't be too bad here" and what not.

The above statements are true. But ash ivy regulate I mean the creators them selves need to work harder on balancing the card pool

In general there will always be imbalances, and we don't need to numerate every type so it's equal to the 89 or so warrior monsters we have now (since a high majority of those warriors don't even work with each other and are just place holders for [Humans That Do Shit/Effect]) As long as there's enough cards in the cardpool to make use of anything put there, then having only 20 Fish cards would be fine, assuming they are strong enough to carry the entire type by themselves.
