Oh, but what's this? Yet another card that has absolutely no excuse whatsoever?

See, people have this tendency to make Quick-Play cards for absolutely no reason whatsoever. When they should be Trap Cards or Normal Spell Cards. So please, try to avoid doing this...

No, not absolutely no reason... Normal Spells can't be activated in response to a card effect - the term trap spell itself is redundant because that's EXACTLY what quick-play spells are. Traps are slower than spells as they need to be set before being activated, so a quick-play is ideal as a response in any situation, which is the point of Re-Target, the card I submitted. Like Inferno Reckless Summoning, it can only be activated when a specific condition is met.

Shuffle Strategics was based on the real life quick-play Reload which has a similar effect, except it nets you a -1 while forcing you to shuffle all your cards back thus making it unusable. Seriously, calm down. If you want to make a good point, at least EXPLAIN why these cards SHOULD NOT be made into Quick-Plays, or otherwise, you might as well be arguing against the existence of the card type itself. Also, that's only 3 cards so far.. in what, about 75?

I wasn't angry, really. Sorry if it seemed that way.(here's something; i haven't been angry in several years) I meant to use a more exasperated tone. Anyways, an alarming amount of Quickplays don't really deserve to be quickplay. Some could do perfectly fine as traps or normal spells. I suppose Re-Target isn't the worst of cards, yes. But things like Resource Collector, Shuffle Strategics and Interdimensional Blast might as well be Normal Spells and be no different. They don't need to be quickplays. And yes, I realize Shuffle Strategics is a quickplay because of Reload, but the TCG doesn't have this weird problem, but we do. Yes, the "problem" is pretty minor, but avoiding minor problems is generally a bad idea because if you keep doing that you will end up with a whole bunch of minor problems. Also, as for the trap thing : trap negators aren't as good as they should be, because there is quite a dangerous possibility that the facedown ST your opponent has is actually a Quickplay. I think the main reason some in the LCCG think traps are underpowered is actually because there is such an alarming amount of "trapspells". Yes, Quickplays aren't inherently bad. But they shouldn't be dumped in every single card. I can accept a few minor exceptions. As long as the exception does not become the rule, that is.

Still not sure if it's that much of a problem. I guess Shuffle Strategics could be changed to a normal. The only really overpowered one I know of is Lifeforce Shield since it's likely to be a +1 every time. Other than that, I run 3 Hostile Negotiations with only 2 Scrap Liquidation (or maybe it was that other card) so I don't worry too much about set S/T.

Generally the card archetypes from long ago were the following:

Normal Spells have the strongest effects of spells but can only be activated during your turn to justify it.
Quickplay Spells do not have as much strength as normal spells but can activate from the hand at any given moment, and can also be set and activated during the opponent's turn. They are the fastest of the S/Ts.
Normal Traps had extremely potent effects but had to remain face-down for one turn before they could be activated. They have more leniency in activation than Counter Traps but did not have as much stopping power as them.
Counter Traps are the strongest traps with the highest Spell Speed, but are the slowest, and are used as they are named, for counters, to provide a powerful, undeniable answer to a situation.


I can kind of see the thing Aqu is referring to, where since the Quickplay Spell is one of the most useful cardtypes out there for S/Ts and have many moments where it can be activated (like an MTG Instant spell). It's not really a problem but more of an issue with card design, since Quickplay Spells outclass Normal Spells in every manner, and there is little reason to dub a Spell a Normal over a Quickplay except for balancing reasons.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, DH! But then theres Normal Traps being very close to being outclassed by Quickplays, with their sole niche basically being that they're negated by different cards, there's not too much reason to dub a ST a Normal Trap rather than a Quickplay. I'm asking people not to neglect Normal Spells and Normal Traps. Especially Normal Spells. Have some numbers.

I suppose they're trying to make a meme out of unnecessary quickplays. In fact, I bet there will be a "Unnecessary Quickplay" spell card at some point. I wonder why they hate me so much that they want me to become internet-famous. I mean, I'm afraid of crowds! I can't have fangirls stalking me every second!

As for your second statement! Well, first statement, really, but whatever. Quickplays aren't really a PROBLEM, it's just that there happen to be tons of unnecessary ones and it's sort of stupid to see over thrice as many Quickplays as Normal Spells in a set. Even more so when plenty of those Quickplays would've functioned just fine as Normal Spell Cards. Or Normal Traps, in some occasions.
