Acid Spark vs Hostile Negotiation vs Coils of Cocytus
3 S/T negation counter traps
imo:
Acid Spark
+ surefire negation unlike hostile
- Hefty LP cost for several decks
Hostile
+ No cost at all
+ If it's negated, still a plus or break even since your opp wasted a card to negate it and since here there's not many +1 s/ts
- somewhat easy to prepare for/taken care of
Coils
+ potential to be a costless negation
+ surefire, like Acid Spark
- hefty initial cost
- limited to several decks that can utilizes many counter traps.
now let's see your thoughts about this.
discuss.

Re: Acid Spark vs Hostile Negotiation vs Coils of Cocytus
Acid Spark is very suitable for LP Gain decks, or decks that use Witch's Void + Transient Slayer/Distortion.
Coils of Cocytus can be used while the same deck runs Symphony of Pain (Counter Trap or negating Summons) and Salt In the Wounds (double negation), and Effect Disorientation, although don't expect it to cover you at the beginning of the game.
Hostile Negotiation is an absolute terror in Hand destruction decks.
I think if we have a "Barrel Behind the Door" style card that's a counter trap you can chain it to Coils of Cocytus to take no damage at all.

Re: Acid Spark vs Hostile Negotiation vs Coils of Cocytus
if negating a trap, hostile is usually a guaranteed negate since people tend to just set every trap in hand. that, coupled with spell negation/forcing spell discards is just too good to overlook, since it hits a huge amount of power cards in any given scenario
acid spark and coils can be very effective, but there are a large amount of cards that will sap your lp - scrap destruction, splitting cut, diabolus, lifeforce shield to name the most frequently run ones - these will quickly put you on a clock to kill before killed and spark and coils can put you within range of a simple killshot far too quickly for my liking
so spark and coils can have use in more original decks, but i think the competitive standard is that hostile is your best choice
