LCCG Staple Guideline Empty LCCG Staple Guideline

Hello LCCG players, welcome to the Staple Guideline, brought to you by the help of our many members. This thread will consist a list of staple cards voted on by people in the LCCG. We will have the effect, advantage tally and what positive effects it can bring.

This will be expanded on by request of members, this is just a start to get the thread out.

Monster Cards:

Flash Serpent
(When this card is summoned, send 1 card from your Deck to the Graveyard. When this card is destroyed, you can remove from play 1 "Flash" monster to destroy 1 card your opponent controls.)
~ This card is limited currently in LCCG play for a good reason. It is a Foolish Burial (limited in TCG funnily enough) in legs. 1700 is a respectable number making it a great first turn play. Any deck that depends on having cards in the graveyard should defiantly play this card.

Micro C
(When your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), you can remove this card in your hand from play to draw 1 card. You can only activate 1 "Micro C" per turn.)
~ Not exactly staple per se, but a very good card none the least. Obviously similar to Maxx "C" in the TCG, this card is a basic +0 that helps thin through your deck. This card hasn't been seen in the limelight for the LCCG yet, but main decking 1+ or side decking them can be very good for draw power if your opponent plays a deck that relies on Special Summoning.

Eccentric Electron
(You can discard this card from your hand to negate the effect of a face-up monster on the field.)
~ This is probably the most valuable monster card staple that you can run. The card is like Effect Veiler, but not as situational. Also, it gets in for that extra 100 you might need later in the duel. You should defiantly main 2-3 copies of this.

Spell Cards:

Scrap Destruction
(Pay 1500 Life Points. Destroy 1 monster card your opponent controls.)
~This card is currently at 2. This card is probably one of the most discussed cards in LCCG history. This card has been almost everywhere on the list (hasn't been banned yet) due to its great versatility. Being a quick-play, this card can go off at any time, causing mayhem to the opponents field. Basic one for one with a 1500 cost. The cost is sort of steep, but you can usually play around it. You should defiantly play 2 copies of this in your main.

Enchanting Circle
(Switch the Battle Position of all monsters you control to face-up Defense Position. They cannot change their battle position this turn. Take control of 1 monster your opponent controls until the End Phase.)
~ A very good Brain Control-esque card. The switching of your monsters to defense position is not to bad of a cost, depending on what you plan on doing with the monsters you control. A must for synchro decks that want to have more options with synchros. If you play a Synchro deck, or maybe even a tribute based deck, maining 1-3 is a good idea.

Trap Cards:

Flash Grenade
(Activate only after your opponent declares an attack. It is now the End Phase of this turn.)
~Pretty standard attack blocking. Helps you stall out your opponent if you need to get another card. Can also cause problems if your opponent didn't set everything they wanted in Main Phase 1 as this card leads start to the End Phase. You should always main 2-3 unless you play Mirror Wall.

Nox Exploiter. Don't forget Nox Exploiter. It's amazingly amazing. Also, add Acid Spark ; it can really help with getting out your plays. I personally also love Twin Double Crossers, almost every time I've used it it's ended up being amazing. So satisfying to trade a Flash Sprite for a giant Dark Medician... In addition, I suggest adding Shuffle Strategics as well. (still broken imo but whatever) Enchanting Circle is really cool too, gives you a Change of Heart with a drawback that isn't actually incredibly bad. I also recommend adding an ST Destruction section of sorts, because every deck needs ST destruction. I would add things like Swift Storm, Heavy Storm, Scrap Liquidation, Splitting Cut and And finally, add the best card ever which I love forever : Phantom's Decision.
EDIT : Oh, how could I forget Gift from Diabolus?

EDIT : Also, Hellcrescent Strix is really good.

thinking back on this:

savior soldier is fucking incredible
nox exploiter the best hand-trap
i really like trap-setting dud atm
extortion is semi-staple
twister of rejection is one of the best traps around
i still don't know which is better, acid spark or hostile negotiation
symphony of pain/effect disorientation are near staple imo
blizzard gets better every set

They both have there advantages, and it's nothing like Negate atk v.s. Threating war. Why? because both of these are good cards, yes Gas has chain ability, but Grenade skips the rest of the turn which can be and has been crutial in the past.

excuse my Newbishness here, Would Mirror Force be a better comparison? [/sarcasm]

The point i'm trying to make is that Chainability almost always overtakes Power, seeing there is a decent amount of Spell/Trap Removal here anyway

s/t removal is dud and cut, neither are commonly maxed out.

Mirror Force is more of a Side option nowadays, and even then it's rarely done...

as for the S/T Removal Debate, You do have a point there, I keep thinking there was more than that for some reason...

both bring up valid points. Chain-ability is important, but skipping the Main Phase 2 is too good to pass up. If it were the TCG which has more backrow removal I would choose Tranquilizing Gas, but here i'd go with Flash Grenade.

They're not staples cause most decks aren't capable of easily fulfilling the cost.

However, they work well with Endless Dissension and Geantrai....
