Communion of the Primordials Empty Communion of the Primordials

As it stands, it has the potential to be a Super Rejuvenation-esque card for Rituals. Limited testing in Meteoros indicates that re-use of Communion during a turn can net massive advantage for the player. Given that Formation can recur, the possibility of being able to loop their summons with Communion refreshing their hand upon each Ritual Summon and feeding the ability to loop while constantly adding advantage. Even if not looping, this card can provide more than enough draw power to enable a Ritual monster to hit the field with sufficient backrow to see them through the game. This can be achieved as early as turn 1, given the plethora of search cards the player can utilize.

I have no problem with the search cards, as they usually have tight restrictions (Bonds of Creation), are simple 1-for-1 tradeoffs (Ceremonial Overseer), or useful but not threatening (Meteoros Protostar) but Communion feeds any costs necessary and gives the player numerous options with the search cards that can often see Communions effect used more than once per turn.

To this end, one suggestion from OmegaWave is:

Communion of the Primordials
Group: Spell Card
Type: Spell
Icon:Continuous
Once per turn, when a monster is Ritual Summoned successfully to your side of the field, draw cards until you have 4 cards in your hand. You can only control 1 "Communion of the Primordials".


Alternatively, I suggest:

Communion of the Primordials
Group: Spell Card
Type: Spell
Icon:Continuous
This card cannot be added from your Deck to your hand. When a monster is Ritual Summoned successfully to your side of the field, draw cards until you have 3 cards in your hand. During the End Phase that this effect is activated, destroy this card.


Normally, I'd have the card Limited or Banned, but the Ban-List for this format has been decided and this card ought to be dealt with before the League Season officially begins.

I prefer your alternative edit tbqh. I still think the first one is still really strong and gives them unnecessary advantage, where as the alternative edit is a lot more balanced.

ow's suggestion does well at stopping the snowballing advantage while mine merely cuts the searchability and adds a self-destruct

i'd suggest merging some of the fixes, but i don't want to butcher the card entirely

You can have 3 face-up Communions and still only draw up to 4 cards.

And I think Ash's fix is still pretty good.
