This is gonna be my post for my Dynamic Duel idea (in YCM, with TCG cards)

This concept is heavily influenced from Astral Masters, which is slightly influenced from MTG.

I thought Level differences were poorly done in Yugioh as it didn't really matter outside synchros, xyzs and card effects. Type and Attribute are already arbitrarily used, why should level be the same?


Introducing 2 new concepts: Ability Units (AU) and Capacity Units (CU). Ability Units are like Mana, and Capacity Units are like how many lands you control.

Before a player's Draw Phase, they gain 1 Capacity Unit. Also, their Ability Units become equal to their Capacity Units.

If a player Normal Summons or Sets a monster, he must pay Ability Units equal to its level. You can Normal Summon/Set as many times as you like, as long as you can pay the AU. Special Summons are free.

Spells and Traps can also have a Level which will be like Speed Spells.

(Hypothetically Speaking) If this ever took off, Certain Effects would be able to directly influence a player's AU or CU. However, your CU can never go above 12 or below 0.

ADDITIONAL RULE: You cannot use a Special Summoned monster for a Xyz or Synchro Summon the same turn it was Special Summoned.


There are a few changes a format must make in order for this to work:

* Tribute Summons no longer exist.

* Special Summons must be more conditional and/or costly

* Hand Advantage must be more readily available in order to compensate for being able to play several monsters per turn

* Drawing is more emphasized, searching is more restricted

* Levels must directly reflect power. There must be a difference between Level 5 and Level 6, levels 1-4, etc.

In order for this "Format" to work, it will need its own banlist which will be radically different from the TCG's.

A lot of cards will be banned. A lot of decks will be crippled. But they have to be to follow this model.
Especially "Special Summon High Level Monster from Hand/Graveyard", because we want drawing cards and Normal Summons to be more common.

Effect Negated:

Cards which are not necessarily broken, but don't make sense because of this format's rules will be put here.
They are treated as having no effect.
