I like soft counters, cause it still gives you an advantage while making the game enjoyable for the opponent.
Your example reminds me of Maxx "C" VS Royal Oppression.
And I also think soft counters should try to be more generic, i.e. "Draw 1 card and gain 1000 Life Points each time your opponent flips a card(s) facedown"

I much prefer soft counters because they are viable against other decks, which opens up opportunities for many other deck types using that specific card. The softer the counter, the more fun the card in general. Just because it's a soft counter doesn't mean it has to be a weak card.
