Are TCG players getting lazy?

Post by Seattleite on Sun Mar 24, 2013 7:19 am

I'm playing a tag duel in the above video, using Naturia Beast.

You can't see the whole video but the opponent is using Prophecies, practically Tier 1, and plays against it the worst possible way - by wasting all their spells without any regard to my field.

The other opponent is using insects and also, wastes all their spells.

Maybe it's always been like this, but it seems that the meta is creating an "autoplay" format. Of course there are many good players, like pretty much everyone on here, but in YGOPRO this isn't the case. There are countless other examples where the player will just take 5+ minutes on their turn summoning Quasar or looping Ragin without any regard to the field. They just don't expect something like Naturia Beast to stop them.

Is removal so rampant that players don't expect the opponents field to stop them? Or are there just not good enough cards to stop these decks? I could play Iron Imperial wall to stop Incarnates, but they could just MST it easily. Is this Iron Imperial Wall's fault for not being good enough, or MST's fault for being an "autoplay" card?

And, is the meta becoming an "autoplay" format or has it always been like this?

Post your thoughts for discussion, or your hatred for the meta here.

Imperial Iron Wall could have been made a lot better than it is now, which is the problem for those side-deck cards.

Searchable/Recycleable, built in protection from cards like MST, control over what gets banished and what doesn't. Something longer and more reliable than just "Cards cannot be removed from play."

Is removal so rampant that players don't expect the opponents field to stop them? Or are there just not good enough cards to stop these decks? not rampant enough to be a concern. almost costless removals though, has lately starting become a problem. FF bear, marksman, grapha, priestess, hornet, hyperion, gauntlet shooter, the likes. main problem is the game has become more and more broken.

And, is the meta becoming an "autoplay" format or has it always been like this? can't say autoplay, but Prophecy and Incarnates is the definition of autopilot. gameplay has been standarized, especially on G1. And no, in the past, it need more skill and thought to win the game, expecially on the dreaded Tele/Return DAD format.

game's sucky right now. gonna skip this format.
